Does it really matter?
Many ‘leaders’ would probably say that it doesn’t really matter.
They are there to do a job and results count etc.
Whenever you work with someone it is hard to ascertain their real character.
Many managers apparently get results with a bullying attitude and the threat of job loss etc.
They believe that they get results. But do they?
No one likes to follow a person they do not like.
If you want people to follow you and reach their own potential they must like you.
Most people are realistic enough to know that leaders must make key decisions but it is important that you respect the person.
The good leader will try to foster an understanding with his staff that will lead to respect.
This in turn will create persons that will want to follow rather than those who are forced to follow.
People appreciate a leader that will ‘go the extra mile’ to talk to them, find out what they really do, listen to their ideas, that is, give them your time.
If you can fully understand the way your staff think you will appreciate them more and they are much more likely to follow you.
Good personnel are worth keeping.
Your aim should be to maximise their potential.
