When you start out in a small group or company you will be very busy developing your self to cope.
However, there will come a time as things expand when that will not be enough.
If you don’t develop your next line of leaders all you will have below you will be a line of followers.
If this is the case the group or company will not be able to grow.
Once you begin to develop leaders you will be able to grow.
To be successful as a company you must have a product that people want.
To capitalise on this the organisation must have good people.
If not you will either stagnate or go backwards whilst your competitors advance.
If you just employ and nurture followers that is all you will have – followers.
Followers are not leaders they have little influence over others so progress is less easy.
However, for every leader that exists they will develop a large network of people who have respect for them.
They will have a much greater pool of influence.

Developing leaders takes time.
Although they are hard to keep their influence, even for a short period, will be large.
There are many management means to improve the running of a group or organisation.
Some of these may be financial control, increasing resource, improving time, project or risk management techniques.
All of these will streamline the running of the organisation but will not allow it to expand.
Only an increase in leaders will help expand the organisation.
