A generic agenda for Project Board reviews was introduced in the section covering ‘Project Board duties and behaviours’ (see ‘Progress control’ under ‘Ensure effective decision making’).
However, as the Project Board no longer exists post-project, a suggested agenda for reviewing benefits is outlined in the example below.
Look back: | Planned benefits accrued to date. Unplanned benefits accrued. Root cause(s) of variation. What lessons have been learned? |
Look forward: | Benefits forecast for the future. What are the likely lessons? |
Assess Business Case performance: | What are the current estimates for full-life costs? How does the updated Business Case compare with the one agreed at project initiation? |
Decision: close the Business Case: | Is the investment sufficiently validated? Do we need another benefits review? |
