Reviewing benefits
Summary
PRINCE2® requires senior managers to undertake the following responsibilities when reviewing benefits.
Actions required for reviewing benefitsHold the benefits review:
- Executive to decide when to hold the benefits review
- Senior User to prepare benefit statements for each benefit in the Business Case
- Identify root causes of variations between actual and forecast benefits
- Identify any lessons learned
- The Executive to decide whether the Business Case can be closed or whether further benefits reviews are required
Close the Business Case:
- The Executive to update the Business Case with actual versus planned performance of the project with respect to full-life costs and accrued and forecast benefits.
Communicate:
- Pass on lessons learned to corporate or programme management.
